Julie Rodriguez, granddaughter of Cesar Chavez, the great community activist and co-founder of the United Farmworkers Union, is excited about the launch of a Northern California Regional Chapter of the Cesar Chavez Education Institute (CCEI).
"We have been working in the Bay Area and Northern California for years," said Ms. Rodriguez. "The Northern California Regional Office is a natural extension of the energy and interest that we've seen from districts, schools, teachers, and of course, students."
For far too long, meaningful educational programs have not been within the reach of our most underserved communities. The current economic crisis in the state of California has only exacerbated the issue. From academic tutoring to service-learning, students want opportunities to learn and achieve. In an effort to provide these opportunities to underserved youth throughout Northern California, the Cesar Chavez Education Institute is joining forces with educators, educational leaders, and education advocates.
We know that the future of our State depends on educated, productive members of our communities but it will take all of us working hand-in-hand. Together, Si Se Puede, Yes We Can!
